Porch Weather 2025

from $10.00

The coffee of the summer is officially back!

Last year, we released Porch Weather as our first seasonal summer blend—and we had to make sure it would return.

Two coffees from Colombia make up this blend, one being a clean and sweet washed coffee from Gaitania, and the other being a highly expressive coffee from one of our favorite producers—Jairo Arcila—located in Quindio.

That coffee from Jairo is a 100% Castillo microlot, turned up a few notches by co-fermenting it with wine yeast and lychee. It goes without being said, but it’s a funky treat that had us wowed at the cupping table.

We painstakingly developed this blend to bring out the best in both of these coffees, and make sure that the final cup you enjoy is interesting, sweet, balanced, and above all else—tasty!

If you’ve never had a co-fermented coffee before, this would be a great place to start. We find the flavor of this coffee to be a bit more subdued compared to other co-fermented coffees we’ve tasted in the past, making it something that we’d have no trouble reaching for all summer long.

Brew a cup, grab a book, make your way outside, and enjoy the porch weather—you’ve earned it.

Average cost per 8oz cup: $1.18

MORE ABOUT THIS COFFEE

Gaitania:

Gaitania is a village located in the Planadas municipality in the department of Tolima. Planadas has a story that contributed to the charm of their people and of the department itself. It was a region in which political prisoners were sheltered from the Liberal party. Over time both parties, Liberales and Conservadores, established a good relationship consequently leading to the famous kindness of people from Planadas to be well-known throughout the country.

Jairo Arcila:

Jairo Arcila is a third-generation coffee grower from Quindio, Colombia. He is married to Luz Helena Salazar and they have two children together, Carlos and Felipe Arcila. Jairo’s first job was at Colombia’s second-largest exporter, working as their Mill Manager for over 40 years until his retirement in 2019.

Jairo has received great advice and guidance from his sons who are now experts in producing Specialty Coffee. With their help, Jairo has greatly improved the picking, sorting, and processing of his coffees. His sons have also guided Jairo in the production of exotic varieties. He now grows varieties like Pink Bourbon, Java, Papayo ,and Gesha growing across his farms. The guidance from his sons has empowered Jairo and given him the tools needed to produce fantastic coffees with amazing flavour profiles.

PROCESSING

Different processing methods were used for each coffee that makes up this blend.

Washed - Coffee is washed at washing station and left to dry on raised beds until ideal moisture content is achieved.

Dry Anaerobic Co-Fermentation - Coffee is exposed to a dry anaerobic fermentation for a period of 72 hours with the pulp on. During this stage lychee and wine yeast are added. Cherries are then pulped and placed on raised beds to dry until the ideal moisture content is achieved.

50¢ from the sale of all coffee bags go to Angels’ Place - A Pittsburgh based non-profit that cares for the children of single parents who qualify as low-income. This enables the parent to continue their own education or career, benefiting both generations.

SHIPPING: We ship orders on Tuesdays and Fridays. Order cutoff is 12pm the day PRIOR to the ship day. If you ever feel your coffee is not fresh enough, just let us know and we’ll replace it.

Domestic shipping is free for orders of $50 or more. Otherwise, it is a $7.50 flat rate anywhere in the US. We ship everything via UPS Ground.

NOTES ON GRINDING: If you choose “French Press” grind, expect it to be finer than usual, so you’re guaranteed good extraction. Some ultra fine coffee particles will make it through the screen and create a flavorful, albeit slightly opaque cup. In other words, we choose flavor over aesthetics. If you want to keep your cup looking cleaner, choose a pour over grind.

If you don’t see your preferred grind in the options then simply let us know in the notes section at checkout and we’d be happy to grind it for your favorite brewing method.
